Khadija Mariyam Foundation
The Khadija-Mariyam Foundation is a collective working towards women’s empowerment by improving women’s access to socio-psycho-legal services and investing in their spiritual and intellectual development.

What we do
The Khadija-Mariyam Foundation is working to build a women’s community centre in Kozhikode, India, and provides psycho-social and legal support to women in crisis.
What
A community-driven collective and charitable Trust working for the betterment of all women, primarily Muslim women*
Why
The socio-psycho-legal needs of women are inadequately addressed through existing institutions. Where these services exist, they are often inaccessible to women for reasons ranging from social and structural to practical and architectural. Kozhikode has a significant Muslim community, and Muslim women in the area have highlighted their desire for a shared space for learning, prayer, and spiritual development.
How
By developing an accessible and inclusive space for women regardless of their caste, class, or religion to share their ideas, learn, and access psycho-legal services, and centring women’s agency in every aspect of our work.
COMMUNITY CENTRE
The community center aims to address the primary concerns of women by providing services such as a domestic violence shelter, legal aid, and a space for shared learning. Parallelly, the community center aims to address the challenges faced by Muslim women in particular, by providing an accessible prayer space, and space for spiritual development
ONGOING WORK
The Khadija-Mariyam Foundation is a community-driven project responding to women’s need for holistic development. We provide support to survivors of domestic violence and other forms of abuse through our network of counselors and lawyers. We also conduct events aimed at improving women’s intellectual and spiritual knowledge and providing an open forum for discussion and learning.
